What does zabiha halal mean for Halal Farm to Table?

For us, zabiha means the animal is raised humanely, is alive and healthy at the time of slaughter, and is slaughtered by hand by a practicing Muslim who says the name of Allah (tasmiyah), with a swift cut that lets the blood drain fully. Each share is tied to one named farm and one named halal processor, and we document the chain of custody from the animal to your door, so halal meat is never mixed with anything else. This is our standard and our commitment. We are working with halal certifier partners and will name them here when those partnerships are in place. Until then, we will never describe anything as certified.

How does a group buy (a share of an animal) work?

Buying a whole cow or lamb is the fairest, freshest way to buy meat, but it's more than one household needs. So neighbors split it. You claim a share, for example a quarter of a beef or half a lamb, and once every share of that animal is claimed, it goes to our halal processor, then gets cut, wrapped, frozen, and delivered on your neighborhood's delivery day. If an animal doesn't fill by its deadline, you aren't charged for it. Because you're buying from the farm directly, our goal is a fairer price per pound than the halal counter for the same quality.

How will I pay for my share?

When we launch, you'll pay securely with Apple Pay or a card, on the website or in the app, at the same price in both places. When you claim a share, your card is saved but not charged. You're charged a deposit only once every share of the animal is claimed, and the balance is based on the final weight after processing. If the animal doesn't fill, you pay nothing. Card processing and delivery are shown as their own plain line items. There are no hidden fees and no app-store markup. We never see or store your card number: payments go through a PCI-certified payment processor. Nothing is charged today; the waitlist is free.

Where do you deliver?

We're starting small: one neighborhood cluster and one delivery day a week, chosen by where the waitlist is strongest. Pennsylvania and California are where we're looking first. Add your ZIP code to the waitlist, and that's how we decide where to launch.

When are you launching?

We're in the planning stage now: lining up farms and a zabiha processor and checking every food-safety rule. We're not promising a date until those are in place. Waitlist members hear first, and the earliest neighborhoods get the first group buys.

Why only one delivery day a week?

One fixed day lets us plan a single cold-chain route through each neighborhood, which keeps meat frozen and costs low, and those savings are passed on to you.

What will pantry add-ons include?

The staples Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Arab, Somali, Turkish and other Muslim households cook with every week: atta, basmati, lentils, spices, ghee, dates and halal snacks. They're added to the same weekly delivery. Never pork, never alcohol, including alcohol-based extracts.
